Emergency Responder Radio Coverage
Emergency Radio Communication Enhancement Systems (ERCES) / Bi-Directional Amplifier (BDA) in New Buildings
Changes to the International Fire Code (IFC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) building codes dictates that all new buildings shall have approved radio coverage for emergency responders. Critical areas require 99 percent floor area coverage and general areas require a 90 percent floor area coverage.
Building owners need to ensure that their buildings have approved radio coverage for emergency responders. Owners can do this by hiring a reliable and certified company to survey new buildings constructed after September. 21, 2015 in New Jersey and October 3, 2016 in New York State.
