The Women of AC Daughtry Security

During the month of March, Americans pause to celebrate women both past and present. We at AC Daughtry Security (ACD) join in commemorating the vital role of women in our cultural history, our personal histories as well as our daily lives. That’s why we are taking a moment to celebrate the women of ACD: President Heather Kahl, Security Consultant Mari Striegel, Assistant Bookkeeper Deb Wiley  and Intern Melissa Taranto.

Family Values & Active Lifestyles at AC Daughtry Security

Along with valuing time with family, ACD cultivates a culture of active living. Heather’s love for the outdoors covers everything from mountain biking, hiking, camping, paddle boarding and skiing to yoga and sitting by a campfire.

Mari recalls her most challenging and ultimately epic bike ride as a 100 mile route around Lake George, New York, with Heather, Dave, her son, and another friend. It was one of the hardest days on the bike for her and she credits Heather and Dave with helping her complete the ride. Mari’s next goal is to hike all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks – she is well on her way to reaching that target with 15 already completed.

Melissa has worked at ACD for one year and is an avid runner. Deb joined ACD just 2 and ½ months ago, and notes that she was impressed with the warm welcome and respect she received from the entire staff.  Like the other women at ACD, Deb enjoys biking, hiking and cross country skiing.

Women Inspiring Women

When asked to think of an inspiring woman in their own life, Heather, Mari and Melissa all immediately noted the strength, courage and kindness of their mothers. Heather reveres her mother’s ability to find good in everyone. Mari admires the courage her mother had to immigrate from Ireland to the US at the age of 20. Melissa’s biggest inspiration is the selflessness and hard work of her mother who managed to cook a hot meal every night for her family, even while working full time to help Melissa and her brother pay for college.

Deb describes the women in the movie “Hidden Figures” as her inspiration. The movie tells the story of intelligent and courageous women who preserved and excelled in the hostile, male dominated field of aerospace technology.

AC Daughtry Security Gives Back

As a testament to Heather’s strong belief in healthy living and community, ACD has donated heavily to local non-profits, youth sports leagues and outdoor events throughout New Jersey that encourage adults, teens and children to get outside and be active. She is a mentor in the Girl Riding Together (GRiT) program – an initiative of the New Jersey Interscholastic Cycling League with the purpose of encouraging and inspiring more girls to ride mountain bikes.
